VOLLE ZALEN - TINEKE SCHOUTEN
After more than forty years and twenty-seven shows, Tineke Schouten shows no sign of slowing down. Having just wrapped up her tour De Schouten Schoenen Aan, she is already working with great energy on her new show Femme Vitaal. In an open and heartfelt conversation with Cornald Maas, Tineke talks about her drive to keep going, the loss of her life partner and promoter Hans, and how she embraces the future with the spirit of a lively seventy-something. We meet Tineke on the beach in Noordwijk, catch her behind the scenes during filming of the new Sinterklaas movie — where she plays the role of Aunt Poets — and see is kicking a ball around with a few of her grandchildren. Margriet Schavemaker, director of Kunstmuseum Den Haag, explores the powerful exhibition Mounira Al Solh A land as big as her skin at the Bonnefantenmuseum Maastricht. Bringing together new works and installations previously shown at the Venice Biennale, Al Solh (1978, Beirut) weaves personal stories with mythology, migration, and today’s urgent themes. With humor and vibrant color, she transforms heavy subjects like memory, trauma, and identity into works that feel both profound and surprisingly light. CULTUUR CRUSH & MUSICAL AWARDS THE KICK OFF 2025
For CultuurCrush, part of DE OPENING – the nationwide kick-off of the cultural season and successor to Amsterdam’s Uitmarkt – I had the pleasure of making the feature on the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands. Together with the wonderful team at MediaLane and the tireless cultural explorer Soy Kroon. On top of that, I joined Soy and seven children on their very first theatre visit to Frozen, where the wonderful Vajèn van den Bosch sparkled as Elsa. FIVE LIVE SHOWS 'OPIUM OP OEROL'
This year, Cornald Maas welcomes these inspiring guests to his table in the dunes: on Monday writer Maartje Wortel and actress Olga Zuiderhoek. Tuesday: journalist Antoinnette Scheulderman and bestselling author Michel van Egmond. Wednesday: legendary comedian Youp van ’t Hek and his wife, writer Debby Petter. Thursday: writer and columnist Aaf Brandt Corstius and her brother, TV maker Jelle Brandt Corstius. Friday: Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands and her daughter Eloise van Oranje – a royal perspective on art and performance. Each evening, actress and singer Sarah Janneh will deliver a live musical performance to set the mood. Meanwhile, presenter and podcast host Carolien Borgers roams the island in search of hidden theatrical gems and encounters with the next generation of theatre makers. TALK SHOW - HILA NOORZAI
I had a great time working with Hila Noorzai and the editorial team of Four Evenings in a Row to create reports on a wide range of topics. Subjects included honour-based violence, episiotomies (childbirth-related), and the impact of social media on young people. Unfortunately, due to the fall of the cabinet during this eventful week, one of the planned topics had to be dropped. It was an exciting week for the team—and especially for presenter Hila Noorzai. As of May 1st, I have joined the board of the Dutch Directors Guild (DDG). I'm looking forward to working alongside my fellow board members to support and strengthen the position of directors in the Netherlands. The DDG plays a vital role in making our profession more visible, protecting authors’ rights, and promoting an inclusive, creative, and sustainable professional practice. I'm excited to contribute to that mission with energy and commitment. |
